With high levels of freedom in business, trade and investment, Italy is a first class exporter of goods. Despite facing problems such as slow growth, in comparison to many nations in recent years, Italy has managed to maintain its lead in most of the sectors that it is involved within.
Italy is best known for fashion, cars and engineering. At the same time, it’s name is also regularly associated with industries such as chemicals, wine, ceramics and machinery.

Italy’s automotive industry is another of its success stories. A mention of Italian mobiles brings to mind illustrious names like Ferrari, Lamborghiniand Maserati.
Names like these are testament to the diversity in the range and variety of automobiles produced in Italy. Whilst their lower priced cars have somewhat struggled to compete with those being manufactured in elsewhere, sales of their higher priced ones have remained stable, and are expected to rise in the future.
Engineering is also an important component of Italian industry. Italy leads in various fields involving the manufacture of complex machines and their parts. As well as cars, they also mass export tools, machinery and electrical goods. Focused on quality, these products have remained competitive even though they are typically not the cheapest option.
